Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap

Just around the corner from Jeong Jit Gan, near Busan KTX Station, sits Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap, a neighbourhood eatery serving one of Busan’s most beloved dishes – Dwaeji Gukbap.

After many days on the road, this was exactly the kind of meal we needed. Nothing extravagant, just a simple tray of pork soup with banchan that somehow felt complete. The sort of food that quietly settles both the stomach and the mind.

Sundae (Korean Blood Sausage)
The bowl arrived generously filled with tender slices of pork shoulder, sundae (Korean blood sausage) and spring onions. The sundae was particularly impressive. It’s delicate casing offered just the slightest bite before giving way to a soft, well-balanced filling of pork blood, glass noodles and rice. There was none of the minerally or gamey flavour that lesser versions can have, allowing the broth to remain beautifully clean.

Pork Shoulder Slices

The pork broth carried a gentle fragrance without being overly porky or greasy. It was light, clear and deeply satisfying. While a spoonful of dadaegi (spicy red chilli paste) sat on the side for those who preferred a little heat, we left it untouched, choosing instead to enjoy the broth in its purest form.

Between spoonfuls, bites of crisp ggakdugi (crunchy radish kimchi) refreshed the palate before returning to the comforting warmth of the soup. A bowl like this reminds us that good food doesn’t always need to be elaborate. It simply needs to be honest enough to feel like a warm hug.
